Together with our long-standing partner Prathiba, we work with communities in India that grow cotton using traditional methods such as crop rotation, composting and mulching. The cotton is grown in a region with little industrialised agriculture, where many stages of the process are deliberately carried out without heavy machinery. This is intended to preserve the natural structure of the topsoil.
A key feature of the project is the close collaboration with local people. The women from the participating communities produce natural organic fertiliser, which can now also be sold outside the project, creating new income opportunities. At the same time, traditional knowledge of cotton cultivation is preserved and passed on to future generations.
This collaboration gives rise to modern essentials in timeless colours, made from regenerative organic cotton.
