Meet our heroes

To mark our anniversary, we have reinterpreted the most popular designs from 50 years of hessnatur and brought them into the here and now.

Look forward to special pieces from five decades of enthusiasm for sustainable fashion – presented by people who live this passion with all their hearts. Among them are many who work at hessnatur themselves and know our values like no one else.

Be inspired by our hessnatur heroes – inspiring, natural, authentic.

T-shirt made from Regenerative Organic Cotton

For Luis Nosek from our IT team, this T-shirt makes a clear statement that reflects his personal lifestyle whilst placing a strong emphasis on environmental protection. This is because the organic cotton used is grown using regenerative farming methods in accordance with the Regenerative Organic Cotton (ROC) standard, with the aim of actively improving soil health, biodiversity and the climate: “I associate nature with beautiful and relaxing moments, which is why it’s important to me to treat it with respect. After all, we only have one Earth.”

T-shirt from a project promoting women's rights

Our Sustainability Manager, Carla Kollenberg, works with our partners to improve social working conditions throughout the textile supply chain. That is why this T-shirt represents a milestone in socially fair production for her. It is made from Regenerative Organic Cotton (ROC) sourced from a social project in India – which, through regenerative farming, not only improves soil quality and biodiversity but also strengthens women’s rights: “Organic cotton is standard for us. Regenerative organic cotton is the next level for us.”

Linen shirt with a Kent collar

For our designer Tobias Heidar Beigi, the linen shirt is an integral part of our collection. This is because growing flax requires significantly less water than conventional cotton – and can even be composted at the end of its long life: ‘Why do we at hessnatur focus on single-material garments? We prioritise quality, durability and circularity.’

Linen shirt with a stand-up collar

Gerald Lauber has been working at hessnatur for over 34 years and is a firm believer in this linen shirt. This is because the gentle manufacturing process has a positive impact on the environment and linen is simply unbeatable to wear. He says: ‘We produce fashion from natural materials. And we’ve been doing so for 50 years. That makes us pioneers.’

10% extra on dresses, shirts & shorts*

The story of hessnatur thrives on encounters with people who share our values. They may not have superpowers, but to us they are everyday heroes. Because they feel, question and consciously help shape a better future. Many of them are part of our team; with others, we are united by a love of people and nature.

We asked them to share their very personal perspective on hessnatur and the Heroe Pieces in our collection: what moves them, what convinces them, what matters to them. The result is a series of honest videos that touch the heart and inspire courage. Because they show us that we are on the right track – and that together we will achieve so much more.

Linen trousers, waistcoat and coat

As a designer, Johanna-Charlotta Eßer works every day with hessnatur’s high-quality materials, such as linen, which she loves to wear in the summer. She is impressed by the outfit – comprising trousers, a waistcoat and a coat – because it is produced in an eco-friendly and fair manner and can be worn for many, many years: “Linen shows just how timeless a single material can be. Nature has always been there; the design is created in the here and now.”

Short-sleeved shirt made from pure linen

Content creator Georg Petermandl sees this lightweight linen shirt with a resort collar as a true hessnatur hero. After all, this relaxed favourite embodies 50 years of hessnatur’s expertise in materials. He believes: “Linen is an investment in yourself. It’s a material to fall in love with.”

Unbleached baby bodysuit made from organic cotton

For author Thekla Wilkening, the bodysuit made from unbleached and undyed organic cotton embodies, more than any other product, the values that hessnatur has stood for since its foundation. Because it protects the delicate skin of the little ones and, at the same time, the future of our planet: ‘hessnatur is like a big sister to us. Like a role model, a rock in the storm. Simply always there.’

Maxi dress made from 100% organic cotton

Nike van Dinther loves the light, natural look of the floral maxi dress. It gives the author, digital consultant and influencer peace of mind knowing that hessnatur uses only cotton from certified organic cultivation: ‘hessnatur gives me the peace of mind I need in my everyday life. There’s nothing more reassuring than things you can really rely on.’

The knitted blazer made from organic merino wool

Katharina Giese, designer at hessnatur, loves the knit blazer made from 100% organic merino wool, which has been synonymous with the high knitwear expertise of the hessnatur collection since 1990: "At hessnatur, it's about more than just clothes. It's about people."

Silk scarf from a social project in Nepal

Nadine Schrader, graphic designer at hessnatur, sees the silk scarf as a real hessnatur highlight. Manufactured and hand-printed in the workshops of New SADLE, it represents the long-standing partnership with which hessnatur supports the social project. A commitment to responsibility that has won Nadine over: "hessnatur stands for its values – that attitude suits me."

Fleece jumpsuit made from pure organic cotton

For family coach Heike vom Heede, the fleece jumpsuit for little ones is "typical hessnatur." Dorothea and Heinz Hess wanted pure natural fibers for their child—which became the impetus for founding hessnatur. Heike shares this desire: "The first layer we put on our children has to be high quality."

Fulled wool made from 100% organic merino wool

Maria Astor, content creator and author, wears a jacket and skirt made from a tried-and-tested hero fabric, wool walk made from pure organic merino wool: "It's just important to me to be able to trust a brand. I know that with hessnatur, I'm in good hands."

The wax jacket with beeswax

Sato Feller, PR Manager at hessnatur, loves the durable wax jacket because it protects against bad weather without synthetics thanks to beeswax: "In nature, it's always give and take. That's how I want to see it in fashion, too."

The wax jacket made from organic cotton

For Patrick Götz, Chief Product & Sustainability Officer at hessnatur, the wind- and water-repellent wax jacket with beeswax is a real hero: "It is possible to work sustainably, and hessnatur has been proving this for 50 years."

The fleece jacket made from 100% organic cotton

Johanna-Charlotta Eßer, designer at hessnatur, is enthusiastic about the long-proven fleece jacket made of pure organic cotton: "Many people only know fleece made of plastic. We do things differently. Our fleece is made of pure natural material."
