Together with our long-standing partner Prathiba, we collaborate with communities in India that grow cotton using traditional methods such as crop rotation, composting, and mulching. The cotton is grown in a region with little industrialized agriculture, where many steps in the process are deliberately carried out in an environmentally friendly manner without the use of heavy machinery. This approach is designed to preserve the natural structure of the topsoil.
A defining feature of the project is the close collaboration with local people. The women in the participating communities produce natural organic fertilizer, which is now also sold outside the project, creating additional income opportunities. At the same time, traditional knowledge about cotton cultivation is preserved and passed on to future generations.
This collaboration results in modern essentials in timeless colors made from regenerative organic cotton.
