So that it is good - measure curtains correctly.

  1. Floor-length height measurement

  2. Height dimension, window sill height

  3. Total width = length of the rail or rod

  4. Pure fabric measurement (unruched)

  5. Decorated fabric measure (gathered, pleated)

Curtains: measure the height correctly

Think in advance how long you want your curtain to hang - floor length, overlay or window sill height? In addition, the decision for the suspension should already have been made.

  • If you use a curtain rod: Measure from the upper edge of the curtain rod to your desired height.
  • When using a ceiling rail: Measure directly under the ceiling from the rail to your desired height.
  • If you don't want the curtain to lie on the floor, subtract approx. 3 cm from the floor-length measurement.

Measure the correct curtain width

Measure the desired width of your curtains (see illustration). Please note that this is initially the width when gathered (= decorative size). The actual fabric width (= fabric size) must therefore be larger! It is important to note the gathering ratio of the curtain.

  • The ruffle ratio describes the difference between decorative dimensions and fabric dimensions for curtains. When gathering with a pleat band, even pleats are automatically created at regular intervals.
  • For example, if the curtain has pleats with a ruffle ratio of 1:2.5, calculate your measured width x 2.5 = fabric width to be ordered.
  • A gathering ratio of 1:2 is recommended for curtains with eyelets. You calculate: your measured width x 2 = fabric width to be ordered.

Curtains - Made in Germany.

The curtains are produced in a traditional family business in Upper Franconia - owner-managed in the 5th generation. The company is one of the first in Germany to manufacture GOTS-certified curtains from organic cotton and organic linen. In our own weaving mill, the cotton yarn is woven into fabric, dyed externally and then manufactured in-house.
